One request, matched to the actual job

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Bermudian survey locations

Plan the survey around Bermuda’s harbours, moorings and limited yards

Bermuda is compact, but vessels may be at a marina, private dock or licensed mooring with very different inspection access. Confirm where the boat can be boarded and hauled, facility permissions, weather and whether the work is private or requires Bermuda Shipping and Maritime Authority involvement.

Hamilton Harbour & central Bermuda

Hamilton · Pembroke · Paget · harbour marinas and moorings

A central concentration of boats and services. Give the precise dock or mooring, launch access and planned yard for the ashore stage.

St George’s & east end

St George’s Harbour · Ordnance Island · east-end yards

An Atlantic arrival and superyacht area with distinct marina and yard access. Confirm berth security, haul-out and visiting-surveyor arrangements.

Dockyard & west end

Royal Naval Dockyard · Sandys · Somerset

West-end facilities are separate from Hamilton and St George’s. Identify the exact berth, contractor permission and practical lift location.

Private docks & moorings

Great Sound · Harrington Sound · bays and licensed moorings

Mooring access may limit power, systems testing and underwater inspection. Arrange tender access and a suitable yard before a full survey.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed for a Bermuda marine survey quote?

Provide the exact marina, dock, mooring or yard, vessel details, construction, purpose and date. Include tender access, haul-out, sea trial and any insurer, lender, Bermuda registry or statutory requirement.

Can a complete survey be performed while the boat is on a mooring?

An afloat inspection may be possible, but access to power, systems and the underwater body can be limited. Agree tender transport, shore power and a separate haul-out before appointment.

Who can complete a Bermuda Certificate of Survey for registration?

Bermuda’s yacht-registry guidance states that the Certificate of Survey is completed by a Bermuda surveyor or a surveyor from a classification society recognised by Bermuda. Confirm the exact registry route before instruction.

Is a private pre-purchase survey the same as Bermuda statutory certification?

No. The Bermuda Shipping and Maritime Authority retains or delegates defined statutory work according to the certificate and vessel. A buyer’s or insurer’s report does not automatically satisfy registry requirements.

Are haul-out, tender transport and sea trial included?

Only when stated in writing. Tender or taxi travel, yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist diagnostics may be separate.

Who appoints the marine surveyor?

The client appoints the independent surveyor and agrees scope, fee, timing, limitations and terms directly. Bermuda Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.

Can you help with other specialist marine survey assignments?

Potential assignments include offshore-passage condition checks, storm & casualty investigation, tender-access & mooring surveys, engine diagnostics & oil analysis, rig & mast inspections, moisture, osmosis & corrosion, sea trials & delivery acceptance, bermuda registration & statutory work. Availability depends on the location, vessel and required specialist capability or formal appointment.
